Installation at Chandrapur Cancer Care Foundation

At the Chandrapur Cancer Care Foundation (CCCF) in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, reliable support infrastructure is an important part of maintaining day-to-day healthcare operations. Laundry is one such essential function, ensuring that soiled linen is processed efficiently and returned to service within the required turnaround time.

To support these requirements, Stefab engineered and delivered an integrated laundry installation comprising BX Barrier Washer Extractors, DR Drying Tumblers, FR Flatwork Drying Ironers and an FP Flat Bed Drying Press. Together, the equipment creates a structured workflow that takes linen from segregation and washing through drying, ironing and final finishing.

Infection Control Starts with the Laundry Workflow

In healthcare environments, infection control extends beyond clinical areas. Linen can be part of the infection-control chain, making the way it is collected, processed and transferred through the laundry an important consideration.

This is where a barrier washer extractor machine becomes particularly relevant.

The Stefab BX Barrier Washer Extractor machine features separate loading and unloading sides, creating a physical barrier between the soiled-linen area and the clean-linen area. Soiled linen is loaded from one side and, following the programmed wash and extraction cycle, clean processed linen is unloaded from the opposite side.

This pass-through configuration supports a clear, dirty-to-clean workflow, helping reduce unnecessary movement of linen between zones and supporting the separation required in healthcare laundry environments.

The BX also combines washing and high-speed extraction in one machine. Following the wash cycle, extraction removes a significant amount of retained moisture, preparing the linen for the drying stage.

For a specialised cancer-care facility such as CCCF, this controlled transition is an important part of the laundry setup. The objective is not simply to wash linen, but to establish a workflow in which soiled and processed linen move through clearly defined stages with appropriate physical separation.

Designed Around Linen Flow

Healthcare laundry needs to be considered more than washing capacity. The movement of linen through each stage - from the soiled area to the clean-linen zone - also influences the efficiency and control of the operation.

The CCCF installation was therefore structured around a clear processing sequence:

Segregation → Washing & Extraction → Drying → Ironing → Pressing & Finishing

Each machine performs a specific function while contributing to the overall movement of linen through the facility.

DR Drying Tumblers: Controlled Moisture Removal

Following washing and extraction, the linen moves to the DR Range of Drying Tumblers.

Efficient drying is essential before linen can move into the finishing stages. The DR range features stainless steel cylinders, reversible operation, and microprocessor controls for controlled drying cycles. Depending on the model and facility requirements, different heating configurations can also be accommodated.

By removing residual moisture after extraction, the drying tumblers prepare linen for ironing and finishing while helping maintain a continuous processing flow.

FR Flatwork Drying Ironers: Continuous Finishing

Flat linens such as bedsheets form a significant part of healthcare laundry and need to be processed efficiently while achieving a consistent finish.

The FR Range of Flatwork Drying Ironers combines drying and ironing in a continuous operation. With front feed and front return, flat linen can move smoothly through the machine with less handling between stages.

This helps streamline the finishing process and supports consistent output for the facility's flat linen requirements.

FP Flat Bed Drying Press: Finishing with Precision

The installation is complemented by the FP Range of Flat Bed Drying Presses, designed for pressing and drying flat textile articles.

The FP incorporates pneumatic operation, a padded buck, moisture suction, and automatic timed release. These features support controlled pressing and help prepare textile articles for their next stage, whether storage, distribution or use within the facility.

Together with the flatwork ironers, the press adds flexibility to the final finishing stage of the laundry workflow.

One Connected Processing System

The value of the CCCF installation lies in how the individual machines work together.

The BX Barrier Washer Extractors establish the controlled washing and segregation stage. The DR Drying Tumblers handle moisture removal, followed by the FR Flatwork Drying Ironers for continuous drying and ironing. The FP Flat Bed Drying Press provides an additional finishing solution.

The result is a connected workflow in which each stage leads naturally into the next.

Rather than treating each machine as an individual piece of equipment, the installation considers the laundry as one operational system, with equipment selected around the movement and processing requirements of the linen.

Supporting the Operations Behind Patient Care

Laundry may operate behind the scenes, but its output is closely connected to the daily functioning of a healthcare facility.

Patient linen, bedsheets, garments, and other textiles need to be processed consistently and made available when required. A well-planned laundry system helps bring greater structure, control, and efficiency to this essential support function.

At Chandrapur Cancer Care Foundation, Stefab's integrated installation provides a dedicated processing workflow that supports the facility's linen requirements - from controlled washing and moisture removal to ironing and final finishing.

Engineering the Complete Laundry Workflow

Every healthcare laundry has its own requirements. Linen volumes, available space, utilities, workflow and turnaround expectations all influence how the system should be configured.

Stefab's approach is to look beyond individual machines and understand how the complete laundry needs to function.

At CCCF, this has been translated into an integrated purpose-engineered laundry system, where equipment, process and linen movement work together to support the facility's operational needs.

That is where Stefab brings value - not simply by supplying laundry machine equipment, but by understanding the requirement, engineering the right configuration and delivering a solution built around how the laundry needs to work, the right laundry solution is not defined by the machines alone, but by how effectively they work together.
